ELON, N.C. – Despite winning the doubles point, the Radford women's tennis team fell to Elon, 5-2, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center Saturday afternoon.
The Highlanders fall to 0-3, while the Phoenix improve to 2-2.
Radford jumped out with a 1-0 advantage by winning the final two doubles matches.
Mia Drobnjak and
Sara Tegner recorded their third-straight victory by defeating Viviana Stravreva and Andrea Pont Grau, 8-4, while
Petra Dajevic and
Emerald Lauzon grabbed their first victory of the season defeating Frida Jansaker and Bryn Khoury, 9-8 (7-4).
In singles action, the Highlanders dropped five out of six matches. Lauzon captured her first victory of the season over Jessica Margolis, 6-2, 5-6, 10-3, for Radford's lone win.
Radford will return to the court Feb. 19 at 9 a.m. to take on the University of Maryland Baltimore in the Burrows/Burleson Tennis Center on Virginia Tech's campus.
