RADFORD, Va. - After having their last two matches canceled, the Highlanders are back in action as they begin a six-match homestand against non-conference opponent George Mason Saturday afternoon.
In the its last meeting on March 21, 2010, Radford defeated the Patriots, 5-2, in Fairfax, Va.
Radford came out strong after taking the doubles point and the first four singles wins to claim the victory. With the match already decided, George Mason claimed the last two victories at the No. 4 and 6 spots making the final score 5-2.
Ivana Tomaic leads the Highlanders with six single wins on the season at the No. 3 position, while
Petra Dajevic follows behind with five at the top spot.
Dajevic and
Mia Drobnjak lead the squad in doubles wins with four out of five victories on court one. Before dropping the last match against Charleston Southern, the top duo went on a four match-winning streak, which included an 8-3 victory over UNC Asheville to help clinch the doubles point.
Alison Wingo leads the Patriots while playing at the No. 1 and 3 positions with 11 singles victories and just five losses on the spring season. In doubles, she is paired with Yasmin Fotovat on court two with a 5-2 spring record.
Brooke Blackwell follows Wingo closely with nine singles victories while mainly competing at the No. 3 position. Lindsey Gray and Kiersten Pappas is the top doubles squad with an impressive 11-3 record at No. 1.
Radford returns to the court on Sunday for a league match against Presbyterian at 1 p.m.
