DAY ONE RESULTS
NINETY-SIX, S.C. – Led by
Amy McCollum's season-low 77, the Radford women's golf team sits tied for fourth following day one of the 2011 Big South Championships Monday.
The three-day event is being played on the Par 72, 6,025-yard The Patriot at Grand Harbor layout.
As a team, the Highlanders shot a 321 and are five back of third-place Gardner-Webb (316) and just nine shots behind second-place Charleston Southern (312). Also tied with Radford are Bucknell, High Point and Winthrop.
McCollum, who carded birdies on the fourth and 13th, is currently tied for 10th with two others.
Senior
Hannah Coles is just two back of McCollum in 14th place after carding a seven-over 79.
Also competing for Radford are
Kirsty Condon (T-24/82),
Jade Okamoto (T-30/83) and
Paige Reese (T-33/84).
Ranked 48th in the latest national rankings, Coastal Carolina holds the top spot on the team leaderboard following a 301.
Four of the Chanticleers' starting five are inside the Top 10, including Brittany Henderson, who leads the 44 competitors at two-over par. Coastal's Jessica Alexander and Kaitlin Higginbotham will enter the second day tied for second.
Round two of the 54-hole event will begin Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. The Highlanders will play with High Point and Bucknell in the second round beginning at 8:50 a.m.
