CHARLOTTE, N.C. –
Ivana Tomaic of the Radford women's tennis team has been named the Big South Choice Hotels Co-Player of the Week for matches played March 28-April 4, as announced today by the league office.
“In most close tennis matches it comes down to the battle of wills,” commented head coach Bruce Harrison. “Who is mentally the strongest and who wants to win the most. Ivana's determination is paying off and she has been winning that battle.”
Tomaic earned the deciding point in two matches last week for the Highlanders at the No. 3 singles position. Against George Mason, she earned a 7-6 (3), 6-4 win over Alison Wingo, leading Radford to a 4-3 win. The following day, Tomaic posted the deciding point over Presbyterian College's Courtney Gardiner, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, clinching the 4-3 Conference victory and evening up the Highlanders' league record.
Coastal Carolina's Miki Bunea joins Tomaic in this honor.
After facing Liberty this afternoon, the Highlanders will be back on the court Saturday for a league match against Coastal Carolina at 2 p.m.
