ROUND ONE RESULTS

WAYNESVILLE, N.C. – Senior Jade Okamoto (Huntington Beach, Calif./Marina) and freshman Alexandra Austin (Burke, Va./Robinson Secondary) each carded a 76 (+4) to complete the first day of the 13th-annual Great Smokies Intercollegiate Monday afternoon.

The two-round event is being played on the par-72, 5,932-yard layout at Waynesville Golf Club and Inn, which was given a four-star rating by Golf Digest.

Entering the final round Tuesday, Okamoto and Austin are tied for 47th in a field of 124 golfers.  Not far behind was Kirsty Condon (Lincolnshire, England/Kesteven and Sleaford), who tallied a five-over 77 on the day.  

Also factoring in the team scoring is sophomore Paige Reese (South Hill, Va./Park View), who rounded out the first round at six-over 78.  As a team, the Highlanders charted a 307 and are just six strokes out of ninth place.

Radford competitors will tee off Tuesday morning at 9 a.m.
