RADFORD, Va. -- Coming off a 2-1 win at Campbell in its conference opener, Radford returns home Saturday afternoon for a 2 p.m. contest against Big South foe Asheville at Cupp Stadium.
In addition to winning four of their last five contests, the Highlanders are unbeaten in seven consecutive at home dating back to the 2009 season.
On Wednesday, Radford used a 49th-minute own goal and Bernardo Ulmo's (Sao Paulo, Brazil / South Kent) 65th minute free kick to improve to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in the league.
Iyiola Awosika (London, England / Aylesbury Grammar), this week's Big South Player of the Week, continues to lead the Highlanders in scoring. The 2010 all-conference performer ranks among league leaders in goals (6 / T-1st), points (13 / T-3rd), goals per game (0.75 / T-1st) and points per game (1.62 / 4th).
Along with Awosika, fellow senior Brian Gwanzura (Harare, Zimbabwe / Harare) is second in the conference with five strikes, while sophomore Chel Ho Kim Park (Santander, Spain) leads the way with five assists.
As a team, Radford sits T-8th nationally in goals per game and T-14th in total goals scored.
Asheville enters the 31st all-time meeting with the Highlanders 1-5-2 overall and 0-1-0 in the league following a 1-1 overtime draw at Appalachian State Tuesday.
Radford leads the series with the Bulldogs, 22-7-1, including a 4-1 win a year ago in Asheville.
Jake Hagedorn paces Asheville offensively, scoring four of his club's 10 goals this season.
The Highlanders will travel to in-state foe Longwood Wednesday, before resuming play at nationally-ranked Coastal Carolina next weekend.
