HIGHLANDERS FALL IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE AT NO. 1 NORTH CAROLINA

BOX SCORE CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Freshman Stacey Mackintosh scored her team-leading eighth goal and junior Sidney Encarnacion made 12 saves, but Radford suffered a 6-1 setback at No. 1 North Carolina in the regular season finale for both squads from Francis E. Henry Stadium.

The Tar Heels (18-1) took a 2-0 lead into halftime on penalty corner goals by Kelsey Kolojejchick (17') and Charlotte Craddock (24'). It could have been more, but Encarnacion stopped six shots and junior Alyana Versage made two defensive saves.

Following a couple of early second-half scores, Mackintosh tallied her third goal of the week ripping a shot into the cage after taking the penalty corner insert from sophomore Ashton Cox. It was Cox's team-best fourth helper of the year as the Highlanders (2-17) cut the advantage to 4-1.

Carolina added two goals in the final three minutes to close out the scoring.

Radford will enter the 2012 NorPac Championships as the fourth seed in the East Division and will take on West Division champion and No. 13 Stanford at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1 at Longwood University's Athletics Complex.
