FIELD HOCKEY HEADS TO THE CITY OF BROTHERLY LOVE

In the midst of a season-long five-game road swing, Radford field hockey heads to Philadelphia, Pa. this weekend for a pair of non-conference contests at Temple (10/6) and Penn (10/7). Both matches in the City of Brotherly Love are scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

A LOOK AT RU: Radford is coming off a thrilling 3-2 double overtime victory at Appalachian State on Sunday. The Highlanders trailed 2-0 entering the half, but rallied with two early second half goals and then freshman Stacey Mackintosh scored the game-winner with just over two minutes left in the second extra session… Mackintosh charted two goals against the Mountaineers and also found the back of the cage against Davidson in a tough 3-2 OT loss last Friday… She was named NorPac East Rookie of the Week for the second time this season after her three-goal weekend… Rookies accounted for all five goals last week as Marianna Parker scored the first of her collegiate career against ASU, while Jana Bayer tallied her second of the season versus the Wildcats… Mackintosh leads the squad with four goals... Junior Alayna Versage dished out her first two assists of the season, one each against DC and ASU.
 
A LOOK AT TEMPLE: The Owls (6-6) had a four-game winning streak snapped by No. 4 Maryland and will face VCU on Friday before entertaining the Highlanders on Saturday… Amber Youtz leads Temple with 13 goals and six assists for 32 points… Alyssa Delp has chipped in with eight goals… Keeper Lizzy Millen has started every match and posted a 3.32 GAA with 68 saves.

A LOOK AT PENN: The Quakers (5-5) are coming off a 5-2 defeat at No. 13 Lafayette on Wednesday night… Prior to that contest, Penn was off to its best start (5-4) since 2004… Penn is 1-1 against the NorPac, defeating Liberty, 5-4, before falling to Appalachian State in overtime, 3-2… Sarah Hasson leads the squad with six goals, four assists and 16 points… Elizabeth Hitti, Julie Tahan and Amelia Cohen have each scored five goals with Hitti dishing out four helpers as well… Carly Sokach has played every minute in goal, posting a 3.17 GAA with 75 saves.

SERIES: Radford is 1-1 against Temple, defeating the Owls, 3-0, on Sept. 9, 1998 and falling on the road, 6-0, on Oct. 11, 1993… It will be the first meeting with Penn.

UP NEXT: Radford remains on the road, heading to in-state foe James Madison on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
