AUSTIN TIED FOR FOURTH ENTERING FINAL ROUND AT LADY PIRATE INTERCOLLEGIATE

ROUND 1

GREENVILLE, N.C. –
Alexandra Austin fired a season-low even-par 72 to lead the Radford women's golf team on day one of the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate played at the par 72, 6,102-yard Greenville Country Club. The Highlanders are in 18th place heading into the final round after carding a 323 Monday.

Originally scheduled for 36 holes on the first day of play, rain prompted tournament officials to scrap the second round after a weather delay pushed back the first round. Radford started hot out of the gates, especially its sensational sophomore, Austin.

The Burke, Va. native was 3-under-par through her first seven holes. Austin ended the round with six birdies to put her in a tie for fourth, four shots back of Maryland's Juliet Vongphoumy (68).

Hayley Hammond shot an 80 (t-60), while Kirsty Condon finished with an 85 (t-92). Paige Reese turned in an 86 (t-95) and Katie Parrott recorded a 92 (t-103).

Led by Vongphoumy's 4-under-par 68, the Terrapins (the defending tournament champions) are tied for the overnight lead with UNC Wilmington after firing a 7-over-par 295. Maryland and the Seahawks have a six-shot lead over third-place Old Dominion in the team chase.

The ACC is well represented at the top of the leaderboard in the individual standings, as Vongphoumy owns a two-shot advantage over Boston College's Cristina McQuiston, who carded a 2-under-par 70.

The final round is schedule to begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start Tuesday. The Highlanders are paired with Marshall, Western Carolina, and High Point. Live scoring for the final round will be provided by Golfstat and can be viewed by clicking here.
