AUSTIN NAMED ALL-TOURNAMENT, FINAL ROUND CANCELED AT LADY PIRATE INTERCOLLEGIATE

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Due to unplayable conditions at the par 72, 6,102-yard Greenville Country Club, the final round of the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate has been canceled. By virtue of her season-low even-par 72 Monday, Alexandra Austin earned a spot on the all-tournament team. The Highlanders finished 18th in the team standings after recording a 323.

Originally scheduled for 36 holes on the first day of play, rain prompted tournament officials to scrap the second round (and eventually the final round) after a weather delay pushed back the first round. Radford started hot out of the gates, especially its sensational sophomore, Austin.

The Burke, Va. native was 3-under-par through her first seven holes. Austin ended the tournament with six birdies to put her tied for fourth, four shots back of Maryland's Juliet Vongphoumy (68).

For Austin, it was her seventh Top-10 showing of her young career. She beat the 13th, 32nd, 59th and 99th-ranked players in the nation to do so.

Hayley Hammond shot an 80 (t-60), while Kirsty Condon finished with an 85 (t-92). Paige Reese turned in an 86 (t-95) and Katie Parrott recorded a 92 (t-103).

Led by individual medalist Vongphoumy's 4-under-par 68, the Terrapins (the two-time defending tournament champions) were tied for the overnight lead with UNC Wilmington after firing a 7-over-par 295.

Maryland won the team title after the tie was broken via each teams' fifth-player score. The Terps' Jessica Gregory turned in an 83 to beat UNCW's Danielle Lamy (88).

The ACC was well represented at the top of the leaderboard in the individual standings, as Vongphoumy claimed the two-shot victory over Boston College's Cristina McQuiston, who carded a 2-under-par 70.

The Highlanders return to the links next week for the Wendy's CSU Invitational. The 54-hole event will be played at Rivertowne Country Club in Charleston, S.C.
