AUSTIN LEADS WOMEN’S GOLF ON SECOND DAY OF JMU EAGLE LANDING INVITE

DAY 2 RESULTS

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – For the second straight day, freshman Alexandra Austin led the Radford women's golf team in a highly competitive JMU Eagle Landing Invite Saturday afternoon.

Austin, tied for 22nd, started her day off in the red due to a birdie on the par-5 first and went on to hit the same mark on holes 9 and 14. After giving two shots back on No. 11 and 12, Austin fired her third birdie of the day on 14 to go back to one-over par.  However, she would have trouble on the final three holes and finish the day at 76 (+4).

Joining Austin at even par over the front nine was Paige Reese.  She carded birdies on a pair of par-4's, 5 and 9, and would go into the clubhouse at four-over 76.  Reese propelled 10 spots up the individual leaderboard and is currently tied for 53rd heading into Sunday's final round.

Jade Okamoto put together a solid round at five-over 78 using a birdie and 11 pars to record the third score for the Highlanders.  Okamoto also jumped 14 positions up the leaderboard and finds herself in a tie for 59th.

Collectively, Radford (311-315, 626) charted a 315 on the second day and are 14 strokes out of the Top-10.

The Highlanders are competing on the Eagle Landing Course, which is a par-72 layout and spread out over 6,300 yards.

18 total teams are in the field, including Chattanooga, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Illinois,
Illinois State, Maryland, Morehead State and South Florida, who all competed in the 2011 NCAA Regional or had an individual participant.

The Highlanders return to the links tomorrow morning with a 9:36 tee time.  Live stats are available through www.golfstat.com.
