OKAMOTO TABBED BIG SOUTH WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Radford senior Jade Okamoto was named Big South Women's Golfer of the Week for her play at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate, announced Thursday by the league office.

It was the second instance this year and third time in her career Okamoto was awarded the weekly honor.

Okamoto carded three consecutive rounds of 75 to tally 225 (+12) in the 54-hole C&F Bank Intercollegiate in Williamsburg, Va. She dropped four birdies, two apiece in the first and second rounds to lead the Highlanders. She tied for third place overall in a 110-player field, which was the best finish since her runner-up showing in the season-opener.

Okamoto was in contention all tournament and finished just four strokes shy of the individual medalist.

“I'm very happy for Jade. She had a very solid week and I expect great things from her as we head into the final regular season event and Big South Championship,” stated head coach Jeff Beeler.

She led the Highlanders in each round and helped Radford to a ninth-place team finish.
