AUSTIN IN SEVENTH AT JMU EAGLE LANDING WITH BEST ROUND OF SPRING

RESULTS

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Courtesy of Radford's best individual round of the spring, Alexandra Austin is currently tied for seventh after the opening round of the JMU Eagle Landing Invite Friday afternoon.

Austin carded a one-over 73 and is just four shots out of second place and six strokes back of the individual leader Kaylin Yost of Campbell, whose 67 was the second lowest score in tournament history.  Austin birdied three of her first six holes of the day.

The Highlanders are competing on the Eagle Landing Course, which is a par-72 layout and spread out over 6,300 yards.  The three-day event features 18 teams, including eight that competed in the 2011 NCAA Regional.

As a team, Radford charted a first-round 311 (+23).  Only nine strokes separate the Highlanders from fifth place overall.

The remaining four Highlanders are within 10 places of each other.  Kirsty Condon and Paige Reese recorded first-round scores of 79 (+7), respectively and are tied for 63rd.

Amy McCollum and Jade Okamoto each shot an eight-over 80 and find themselves in a tie for 73rd.

The second round gets underway Saturday morning.
