RADFORD, Va.
– Radford scored six runs in the first three innings and held Presbyterian to three hits in a 7-2 Big South victory Sunday afternoon from RU Softball Field. The win clinched the series for the Highlanders (24-13, 9-3 Big South) as they took two-of-three over the weekend.

Micalah Sacre and Jackie Jenkins combined on the three-hitter. Sacre went the first 3.1 innings without allowing a hit and striking out six, but four walks, two in the fourth, led to the Blue Hose's (14-24, 6-7) only two runs. Jenkins came in and shut the door to pick up her 10th win of the season. She scattered three singles and walked two.

RBI doubles by senior Vicki Madden and junior Ryndee Ruch put Radford up 2-0 in the first. With one out, Madden ripped one just inside the bag at third. As it rolled to the corner, Sacre scampered home from first to put the Highlanders on the board. Ruch was given a second chance and took advantage of it. After her pop up in foul territory was dropped, she doubled to the gap in left easily plating Madden.

The added a run in the second on a successful squeeze by Sacre, knocking in senior Hannah Ojeda and three more in the third.

Ojeda led off with a triple just out of the reach of a diving Tera Powell. Two batters later, Sacre dropped down a perfect bunt for the eventual game-winning run. In the third, two of the three tallies came on run-scoring singles by Ojeda and sophomore Jessie Hutchens.

The Blue Hose scored their two runs without a hit in the fourth as they took advantage of three walks, one with the bases full, and an error.

Powell registered the first hit for Presbyterian with a leadoff single in the fifth and finished 2-for-3. Morgan Durham recorded PC's other hit.

Ojeda, Madden and Hutchens each had two of Radford's nine hits. Madden knocked in two and scored a run, while Ojeda and Hutchens knocked in and tallied a run apiece.

Kensley Loudermelk suffered the defeat as she lasted just one-plus innings. She allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits with two walks and a hit batter. Leslie Hensley tossed the final five innings, giving up four runs, three earned on six hits. She walked one and struck out one.

Radford remains at home for a Tuesday twinbill against UNCG at 4 p.m.
