WOMEN’S TENNIS FALLS TO TOP-SEEDED WINTHROP IN BIG SOUTH SEMIFINALS, 4-0

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The most successful season since 1990 came to an end Friday morning as Radford fell to top-seeded Winthrop, 4-0, in the semifinals of the 2012 Big South Women's Tennis Championships at Asheville Racquet Club South.

The Highlanders conclude the 2011-12 campaign 17-7 overall and will return four starters next season.

With the win, Winthrop will be making its 11^th straight championship appearance, while improving to 14-10 on the spring.

In addition to clinching the doubles point, the Eagles got singles victories from Yasmine Alkema (6-1, 6-0), Andressa Garcia (6-2, 6-3) and Elkin Gunaysu (6-1, 6-1).
