RADFORD, Va. -- Coming off a 4-1 week in league play, Radford Softball is set to host five games this week. The Highlanders (18-9, 5-1 Big South) welcome future Big South member Longwood (23-14) for a Wednesday twinbill at 3:00 p.m., followed by a three-game conference series Friday (4/6:00) and Saturday (1:00) against Coastal Carolina (29-11, 6-2).
After completing the series sweep of Liberty by upending the Lady Flames in a doubleheader, Radford took 2-of-3 in its first Big South road series at Campbell over the weekend. The Highlanders had their eight-game winning streak snapped last Friday, but have still won 11 of their last 13 games since starting 7-7. The victories over Liberty extended its home winning streak to 16 games.
The Lancers, who host Virginia tonight, are the last team to defeat Radford at home, a 12-9 win in game one of a doubleheader on April 6, 2011. The Chanticleers come in with the top overall record in the league and sit just percentage points behind the Highlanders for first.
