FIELD HOCKEY REVEALS 2012 SCHEDULE

2012 Schedule

RADFORD, Va.
– Radford field hockey, under the direction of head coach Jeff Woods, has announced its 2012 schedule on Thursday afternoon. The Highlanders' slate features contests against five top-20 opponents, including national runner-up North Carolina and national semifinalist Old Dominion, along with a full plate of eight NorPac matchups.

A two-day trip to the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pa. begins a stretch of five games away from home to start the 2012 campaign with its opener against the first of two Mid-American Conference (MAC) foes, Central Michigan, on Aug. 25 at Robert Morris University. Depending on the outcome, Radford will either face the host Colonials or Villanova on Aug. 26.

A road test at defending MAC champion and No. 20 Ohio (Sep. 1) opens the month of September. The Highlanders continue with two in-state matchups against William & Mary and national-semifinalist and No. 2 Old Dominion on Aug. 7 & 9.

Following their trip east, Radford is home for two of its next three with the home and league opener against newest NorPac member Liberty on Sep. 16. After a non-conference affair with NCAA participant and NorPac runner-up No. 10 Stanford in Chapel Hill, N.C. on Sep. 22, the Highlanders return to RUFH Field on Sep. 28 against NorPac rival Davidson.

After wrapping up September with its first NorPac road test at Appalachian State (Sep. 30), Radford will have 10 matches in October beginning with a pair in Philadelphia against Temple (Oct. 6) and Penn (Oct. 7) and concluding at national-runner up and regular season No. 1 North Carolina on Oct. 28. In between, the Highlanders will see familiar non-conference foes James Madison (Oct. 9) and No. 18 Wake Forest (Oct. 17), while also playing the brunt of their league schedule, including two at home against Longwood (Oct. 14) and Appalachian State (Oct. 21).

The 2012 NorPac Tournament will be held from Nov. 1-3 on the campus of Longwood University in Farmville, Va.
