WOMEN’S GOLF OPENS IN FIFTH AT F&M BANK APSU INTERCOLLEGIATE

ROUND 1

 

CLARKSVILLE, TENN. – The Radford women's golf team carded a 312 and is fifth following Monday's first round of the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate hosted by Austin Peay at the par 72, 5,960-yard Clarksville Country Club.
 
The Highlanders trail Murray State (296), Eastern Kentucky (300), Houston Baptist and Belmont (311) in the team standings. Individual frontrunner Delaney Howson guided Murray State by tying the tournament record of 6-under-par 66. She leads Austin Peay's Jessica Cathey by five shots.
 
Alexandra Austin and Hayley Hammond both logged a 77 for the opening round. The dynamic duo enters tomorrow tied for 12th place, but only two swings away from the top five. One stroke behind is Olivia Jay, who is tied for 19th after firing a 78. Paige Reese is tied for 31st with an 80, while Kirsty Condon is tied for 44th at 82.
 
Tuesday's final round tees off with an 8:30 a.m. (CT) shotgun start. RU, Belmont and Jacksonville State will play together for the final 18 holes.
