WOMEN’S GOLF FINISHES SIXTH AT F&M BANK APSU INTERCOLLEGIATE

ROUND 2

CLARKSVILLE, TENN. – The Radford women's golf team followed its 312 with a 311 in Tuesday's final round to place sixth out of 14 teams at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate hosted by Austin Peay at the par 72, 5,960-yard Clarksville Country Club.

Leading the Highlanders with her 18th career top-20 showing, Alexandra Austin tied for 16th in the 83-player field at 155 (77-78). Freshman Olivia Jay posted her season-best finish (t-18th) behind back-to-back rounds of 78.

Kirsty Condon improved six shots from Monday's first round to tie for 25th at 158 (82-76), while Hayley Hammond fired a 159 (77-82) to tie for 32nd with teammate Paige Reese (80-79). Competing as an individual, Meredith Hopper shaved an impressive 10 shots off her opening round to place 80th at 180 (95-85).

Jacksonville State carded a tournament-best 293 to nip overnight leader Murray State by one stroke. The Gamecocks finished at 607 (314-293), while the Racers concluded at 608 (296-312). Eastern Kentucky (609), Belmont (617) and Houston Baptist (620) rounded out the top five. The Highlanders were three swings behind the Huskies.

A big reason behind JSU's surge was Anne Kathrin Albrecht, who carded a 4-under-par 68 Tuesday to finish at 1-under-par 143 for the tournament. Her efforts were not enough to catch individual frontrunner Delaney Howson of Murray State, who finished three strokes ahead at 4-under-par 140 (66-74).

Radford concludes fall action with five top-five performances and a 311.9 team scoring average. Austin (76.52) and Hammond (78.08) have the top-two career scoring averages in program history. In addition to those two, the Highlanders have two more current golfers in the top 10 for this category: Reese (79.92 – sixth) and Jay (80.07 – seventh).

After a few months off, RU is back at it March 2-4 in Kiawah Island, S.C. for the 54-hole Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic hosted by the College of Charleston at Oak Point and Cougar Point Golf Courses.
