RADFORD, Va. – The Radford men's golf team is poised to begin its penultimate tournament of the fall Sunday-Tuesday. The squad heads to Powells Point, N.C. for the ODU/OBX Invitational hosted by Old Dominion University.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament will take place at the par 71, 6,550-yard Kilmarlic Golf Club. Joining the Highlanders and the host team ODU are Bowling Green, Delaware, Drake, Drexel, Elon, George Mason, George Washington, Hartford, Hofstra, Jacksonville, JMU, Longwood, Loyola, Maryland, Marshall and VCU.
After pacing Radford in its last two tournaments, senior Callum Tarren looks to continue his strong play. A 3-under-par 213 at the Golf Galaxy VCU Shootout earned him his best finish of the season thus far, tying for fifth.
Conner Hayden has been a steady competitor as well, with two top-15 performances so far. Tanner Carbaugh tied for the team's best round at RU's last competition, the Big South Preview, shooting an even-par 72.
Redshirt junior Ryan Rettberg has come into his own this fall, placing in the top 15 in the Highlanders' last two events. In his first year of collegiate competition, freshman Nick Brediger has posted solid scores for Radford, including a t-17 finish at the Big South Preview.
Tournament play commences Sunday and Monday with 8:30 a.m. tee times off the first and 10th tees. Tuesday's final round will start at 8 a.m.
