FIELD HOCKEY TOPPED AT LONGWOOD

BOX SCORE

FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood tallied three first-half goals and went on to defeat Radford, 5-0, in a key NorPac East division contest on Sunday afternoon from the Athletics Complex.

Following a quick Radford corner and two shots by Stacey Mackintosh and Ashton Cox to start the match, the Lancers (6-10, 4-2 NorPac) grabbed the momentum as they scored three goals over the final 21 minutes of the first half for a 3-0 lead at the break.

Mackintosh paced the Highlanders (4-12, 2-3) with four shots, three on goal. Senior Sidney Encarnacion made seven saves and junior Jordan Vrhovac added a defensive stop, her sixth of the season.

Nicole Deckard tallied two goals and five shots for the Lancers, while Kaye Goulding registered five saves, four in the second half, for the shutout.

Stacy de Grandhomme opened the scoring in the 15th minute, tipping a feed by Vanessa Tapper. With just over 10 minutes remaining, Deckard knocked in her own rebound to double the Lancers' lead. Rachel Lombardi capped off the first-half scoring with under two minutes left in the stanza.

Encarnacion charted five of her saves and Vrhovac added her stop in the first 35 minutes.

Hollie MacDonald and Deckard each added a goal in the second half.

Radford continues its season-ending five-game road swing at Appalachian State on Friday, Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m.
