HIGHLANDERS EDGED BY WILDCATS ON SECOND HALF GOAL, 1-0

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Danielle King's goal in the 51st minute was the only score of the game as Radford dropped a 1-0 NorPac East contest to Davidson on Sunday afternoon at Belk Turf Field.

In the defeat, senior Alayna Versage recorded her ninth defensive save setting the single-season mark in the process. The Highlanders (5-13, 3-4
NorPac East) hold a one-game lead over the Wildcats (6-11, 2-5) for third place with each team having one contest remaining next weekend.

During a six-minute span in the second half, the Wildcats were awarded six penalty corners with senior Sidney Encarnacion coming up with saves on a trio of shots by Katherine English. However, on the final corner, King took the insert from Tyler McFayden for the stop and decided to shoot instead, hitting the left corner of the cage for the game-winning goal.

Radford had a couple of chances down the stretch but shots by junior Kellen Keys and sophomore Stacey Mackintosh (on a corner) were blocked. Versage also sent a shot on a corner just wide.

Encarnacion finished with three saves while Davidson Carolyn Macek came up with a pair of stops. Mackintosh and junior Paige Doughty each charted two shots for the Highlanders.

Davidson outshot the Highlanders 11-6, 9-3 in the second half and claimed an 11-4 advantage on penalty corners.
