FIELD HOCKEY CLOSES OUT REGULAR SEASON AT LIBERTY

Radford field hockey travels to Lynchburg, Va. to face Liberty at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2 for its final game of the regular season. The Flames have already clinched the NorPac East Division regular season championship, while a Highlander victory will secure a third-place finish.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Radford traveled to Davidson, N.C. and dropped a tough, 1-0, match to Davidson. Danielle King scored the only goal of the NorPac East contest in the 51st minute off of a corner.
 
A LOOK AT RU
The Highlanders are 5-13 overall, and 3-4 in the conference. RU clinched a spot in the NorPac tournament after defeating Appalachian State 2-0 last Friday. Marianna Parker leads the team in points with 15, which is tied for 10th in the conference. Radford leads the nation in defensive saves with 23 thanks to Versage (9) and Jordan Vrhovac (6)... Versage set a new record with her ninth against the Wildcats last Sunday... They are ranked second and fifth in the nation respectively... Junior Jennifer Hedrick's four defensive stops ranks her tied for 16th.
 
THE LADY FLAMES
Liberty is riding an eight-game winning streak, which ranks second in the country. They are 13-4 overall, with an undefeated 7-0 conference record. Last week, the Lady Flames racked up two shutout wins, defeating Davidson 3-0 and Appalachian State 6-0. Natalie Barr leads the conference in points (42), goals (16) and assists (10). Goalkeeper Ann Jefferis has only allowed 16 goals this year and has 48 saves, a .750 save percentage and five shutouts.
 
THE SERIES
Liberty edged Radford, 2-1 in an earlier meeting at RU Hockey Field. Natlie Barr scored with eight minutes left and the Lady Flames held off a furious Highlander rally, which involved to LU defensive saves and a ball hitting the post. Radford's lone victory was a 3-1 triumph in 2011 in Lynchburg.

UP NEXT
Radford returns to Lynchburg for the NoPac Championship on Nov. 7-9. The Highlanders' seed is yet to be determined. It will be announced on Sunday.
