BAKER SHINES IN TRIPLE JUMP TO LEAD RADFORD AT VT CHALLENGE

RESULTS

BLACKSBURG, Va.
For the second straight day, a member of Radford track and field finished second in an event as Jamiecka Baker did so in the women's triple jump Saturday to conclude the VT Challenge for the Highlanders, who had six personal records set on the day.

Baker's 11.63-meter leap was a personal-best and her second top-3 triple jump of the season. Kendall Reynolds of Bowie State won the event with an 11.86-meter effort.

In the men's 800-meter race, Jake Zimmerman and Brian Gorwitz established individual-best times. Zimmerman placed 16th by crossing the line in 1:55.63, while Gorwitz was clocked at 1:56.06 to finish 17th. In addition to their personal records, Zimmerman and Gorwitz rank eighth and ninth, respectively, all-time for the event.

Individual-bests were also recorded in the women's 400 meters where Danyelle McDaniel (1:00.81) and Samantha Reddington (1:03.13) crossed the line in 21st and 24th, respectively. On the men's side, David Green placed 14th at 51.76 (PR).

Garrett Knudson represented Radford in the men's shot put with a fourth-place showing. The junior was credited with a 14.87-meter toss.

Looking to repeat the success from last season, the Highlanders head to Winston-Salem, N.C. for the Big South Indoor Track and Field Championships, Feb. 21-22.
