APPALACHIAN STATE BLANKS WOMEN’S TENNIS, 7-0

BOONE, N.C. – The Radford women's tennis team was handed a 7-0 loss by Appalachian State Saturday afternoon in nonconference action at the Yonahlossee Racquet Club.

Despite Taylor Fay and Gemma Valls claiming a victory at No. 3 doubles, the Mountaineers (4-1) cruised on courts 1 and 2 to earn the doubles point. ASU proceeded to take all six singles matches as well.

Coming off a win at Davidson on Friday, Valls hung with Ellie Linsell before falling in straight sets (6-4, 6-4) at the top flight. Taylor Newman also refused to go down easily, as the sophomore was edged 6-4, 6-3 on court three.

Returning to the court Friday, Feb. 15, the Highlanders (0-2) will seek their first win of the dual season at Washington & Lee. First serve is slated for 3:00 p.m. from Lexington, Va.
