AUSTIN’S TOP-3 LEADS RADFORD IN FINAL ROUND OF LADY BISON SPRING CLASSIC

ROUND 2  |  INDIVIDUAL

LAS VEGAS, Nev. –
Sophomore Alexandra Austin recorded her fifth top-10 showing of the season with a third-place finish to lead the Radford women's golf team to an eighth-place performance following Friday's final round of the Lady Bison Spring Classic hosted by Bucknell on the par 72, 6,004-yard Snow Mountain course at the Paiute Golf Resort.

Entering the day with the overnight lead, Austin carded a 5-over 77 to post a career-best 3-over 147 (70-77) for 36 holes and tie for third. She finished three strokes behind medalist Samantha Morrell (Old Dominion), who fired an even-par 144 (75-69).

Led by runner-up Linnea Johansson's 2-over 146 (74-72), Nova Southeastern cruised to the 15-shot victory in the team race. The top-ranked Sharks, winners of four straight NCAA Division II National Championships, had all five golfers inside the top-10 to register a 586 (296-290). 67th-ranked Old Dominion logged a 601 (304-297) to place second.

Bringing in the lowest round of the day for the Highlanders was Hayley Hammond, who shot a 4-over 76. The redshirt junior finished tied for 28th at 157 (81-76).

Also shooting in the 70s Friday for RU was Kirsty Condon, who returned a 79 for the second straight day to tie for 30th at 158 (79-79). Paige Reese tied for 54th at 166 (79-87), while Katie Parrott finished 67th at 178 (89-89).

Through the Highlanders' seven tournaments, they have placed in the top-10 in five of those and have had six top-10 individual performances. RU will look to continue its strong start when the squad returns to action Sunday, March 24 at the Low Country Intercollegiate hosted by Wofford. The two-day, 54-hole event will be contested at Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head, S.C.
