WYATT CROSSES THE LINE IN SECOND AT VT FINAL QUALIFIER

RESULTS

BLACKSBURG, Va.
Coming off his second straight All-Big South performance at last week's Big South Indoor Track and Field Championships, sophomore Vincent Wyatt continued his impressive run with his fifth runner-up showing this season at the VT Final Qualifier held at Rector Field House Saturday.

Vying for one of the top 16 times for the 60-meter hurdles to earn a spot in next week's NCAA Indoor Championships, Wyatt returned to the track where he established the school record time for the event. Coming into Saturday, his top time of 7.76 was just inside the cut line.

Wyatt crossed the line in 7.80 to finish second in the finals, while Kentucky's Keith Hayes crossed the line in 7.79 to take top honors. Hayes ran a 7.73 in the semifinals, which went down as the top time for the day and ties for the ninth-fastest in the nation.

Through Wyatt's six meets, he has one title and five second-place showings (all in the 60-meter hurdles) to his credit.

The sophomore holds all 10 of the top indoor marks for the event in program history, including the school record (7.76) ran at the VT Invitational on Jan. 18. His time was the fifth-fastest in the nation and the top mark in the Big South at the time, which earned him Big South Track Athlete of the Week.

Currently, Wyatt and Oklahoma's Tre' Lathan will be the final two to book their trips to Fayetteville, Ark. next week. The official announcement of qualifiers will be made tomorrow at 8:00 p.m. If Wyatt is selected, he will become Radford's second NCAA qualifier for the indoor national championships.
