UNC ASHEVILLE RALLIES LATE TO SLIDE PAST WOMEN’S TENNIS

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Radford won two of the first three singles matches to tie the score at 2, but UNC Asheville prevailed in the final three battles to register a 5-2 Big South women's tennis victory Monday afternoon at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.

After the Bulldogs (8-7, 2-3 Big South) won the doubles point, Newman delivered the equalizer at No. 2 singles as she downed Emily McNall (6-2, 6-2) to move to 6-4 when playing in the second slot. It was the sophomore's fifth straight triumph and her first win in conference play.

UNCA jumped back on top when Ericka Rivero took down Hana Babic (6-1, 6-1) on court three. Meg Napolitano answered for Radford (3-10, 0-3 Big South) in the fourth position, dispatching Christine Boissevain (6-4, 6-3) to square the match at 2.

However, the Bulldogs claimed the final three singles matches to bounce back from Sunday's loss to Big South-leading Charleston Southern.

The Highlanders make the trip to Lynchburg, Va. on Wednesday, March 27 to take on Liberty in their next league tilt. The Big South clash gets underway at 2:00 p.m.
