AUSTIN TIES FOR OVERNIGHT LEAD AT MIMOSA HILLS INTERCOLLEGIATE

ROUND 1  |  INDIVIDUAL

MORGANTON, N.C. –
Just over two weeks removed from capturing the overnight lead at the Lady Bison Spring Classic, Alexandra Austin was in top form once again Monday as the sophomore carded a 1-over-par 73 to tie for first entering Tuesday's final round at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate.

The two-day, 36-hole tournament hosted by Appalachian State is being played at Mimosa Hills Country Club. The Mountaineers felt right at home in the first round, firing a 306 to claim a one-shot edge over Winthrop (307) with one round to play.

Despite Austin's stellar round, Radford posted a 323 and is ninth in the team standings. The Highlanders are only eight swings out of fifth place.

Tying Austin for the overnight lead are Appalachian State's Yue Xu and Gardner-Webb's Lauren Smith. Xu's teammate, Haley Zagoria, is one shot back at 2-over-par 74.

Returning an 80 to the clubhouse, Hayley Hammond is tied for 22nd. Paige Reese (84) and Kirsty Condon (86) are tied for 45th and 52nd, respectively. Katie Parrott charted a 91 and is 58th in the 66-player field.

Tuesday's 18-hole final round is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m.
