RADFORD, Va. – Due to the inclement weather forecast for Friday, Radford and Campbell have agreed to push their Big South Softball series to Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday doubleheader at RU Softball Field is set for 2:00 p.m. and Sunday's first pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

The teams were originally scheduled for Friday at 4:00 p.m. and Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

Radford looks to rebound after dropping a pair of one-run non-conference contests at Charlotte on Wednesday. The Highlanders (16-25, 9-6 Big South) sit in fourth place in the league, following a 2-1 weekend at Presbyterian. Freshman Becky Mantel paces the RU offense with a team-best .319 average, 36 hits, 27 runs, 22 walks and .476 on base percentage. In addition, she has six doubles, five home runs and a .504 slugging percentage. Junior Jessie Hutchens (.288) leads the squad with 12 doubles, eight home runs, 31 RBI and .631 slugging percentage.

Freshman Rachael Walters is 12-7 (8-1, 1.70 ERA in Big South) with a 3.04 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 115 innings of work.

The first-place Camels (30-16, 14-4) hold a one-game lead over Longwood (13-5) and Coastal Carolina (13-5) and come into the weekend having won four straight after sweeping a road doubleheader at Winthrop on Tuesday. Campbell enters with a .304 average led by Ericka Nesbitt (.424) with a team-best 53 hits, 34 runs, .471 on base percentage and 19 stolen bases.

Stephanie Jones (.377), Courtney Klinger (.336) and Sarah Forgacs (.306 / 18 SB) also bat above .300 with Klinger posting eight doubles, 10 home runs,  36 RBI and 31 runs and Jones chipping in with 33 runs, seven doubles, six long balls and 28 RBI. Raven Lee powers the Camel lineup with a team-best 14 home runs, 49 RBI and .685 slugging percentage.

In the circle, Courtney Roberts is 16-6 (9-1, 2.32 ERA Big South) with a 3.09 ERA, three shutouts and 113 strikeouts in 129.0 innings of work. Brittany Arnn (4-7) posts a team-best 2.53 ERA in 74.2 innings.

Campbell owns an 18-9 lead in the series after Radford took 2-of-3 in Buies Creek last season. The Highlanders won games two (10-2) and three (2-0) after the Camels took the opener, 8-4. Radford is 2-4 at home versus the Camels. It is the first meeting at RU Softball Field since March 4, 2003 when the teams split (L, 2-4; W, 3-2).

Radford steps out of conference for a home-and-home series against “New River Valley” rival Virginia Tech on Tuesday and Wednesday at RU Softball Field and Tech Softball Park, respectively. First pitch each evening is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
