HODGE WINS HAMMER; HALE SETS PERSONAL-RECORD AT VIRGINIA CHALLENGE

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. / ATLANTA, Ga. – The Radford track and field team competed at the Virginia Challenge hosted by the University of Virginia and the Georgia Tech Invitational Friday afternoon.

“Curtis did pick up a first place but more importantly had a very good series of throws,” said head coach Brent Chumbley. “I was very happy for Emmalane that she could PR at the last meet of the year and set the tone for next year.”

At the Virginia Challenge, senior Curtis Hodge brought home a first place in the hammer throw with a distance of 58.10m. In the women's hammer throw, freshman Ashlen Veatch took second with a toss of 48.90m.

Sophomore Emmalane Hale added a personal-record in the discus with a toss of 39.31m while taking fifth place.

At the Georgia Tech Invitational, sophomore Vincent added a top-10 time of 13.99 seconds in the 110m hurdles while qualifying for finals tomorrow. Wyatt will run in the 110m hurdles finals at 2:50 p.m. tomorrow while classmate Joseph Betts is set to run in the 200m dash at 5:00 p.m.

RU track and field returns to action tomorrow, May 11th as they compete in day two of the Georgia Tech Invitational.
