LONGWOOD IN TOWN FOR HOME AND NORPAC OPENER ON TUESDAY

After opening the season with five contests away from home, Radford Field Hockey welcomes Longwood for its home and NorPac Conference opener on Tuesday at RU Hockey Field. The contest between the two in-state foes begins at 7:00 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT: Radford (1-4) dropped an 8-1 decision at No. 1 North Carolina on Sunday… Freshman Camaron Watkins scored her first collegiate goal and senior Sidney Encarnacion made a season-best 15 saves… The Highlanders also registered a school-record seven defensive saves, two each from senior Alayna Versage, junior Jordan Vrhovac and junior Jennifer Hedrick with junior Amy Kinkler recording the other.
 
A LOOK AT YOUR HIGHLANDERS: With those seven defensive saves, Radford currently leads all of Div. I with 10… Versage and Hedrick lead the Highlanders with three apiece… Versage moved into third all time in the RU annals with 14, needing just three more to surpass Natalie Bowen for the No. 1 spot… Sophomore Marianna Parker leads RU with two goals, both against Saint Louis… Junior Ashton Cox has dished out at team-best three assists, two of which came against the Billikens... Radford has dropped its last two home openers… Its last home-opening win was against Siena in 2010… It is 9-3 in home openers since joining the NoPac in 2001… In NorPac openers, the Highlanders are 5-7.
 
THE LANCERS: Longwood (2-4, 1-0 NorPac) is coming off an 8-1 home win over Appalachian State on Saturday in the league opener for both squads… Stacey de Grandhomme paces the offense with six goals and 13 points… Jennifer Burris and Jessica Diaz each have charted a team-best four assists.

THE SERIES: The series is tied 14-14-2 after the Lancers won three one-goal contests last season… Longwood has won the last six matchups, four by one goal… The Highlanders last victory was a 3-2 OT triumph in Farmville on Sept. 25, 2010… Since 2008, 10 of the 13 meetings have been decided by one goal with six going to overtime and two more decided in the last 30 seconds of regulation.
