WOMEN’S GOLF JUMPS TO FOURTH AFTER FINAL ROUND IN MYRTLE BEACH

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Radford women's golf team carded a 319 to ascend to fourth place following the conclusion of Tuesday's final round at the Myrtle Beach Fall Invitational contested at Myrtle Beach National's South Creek Course (par 72, 6,089 yards).
 
Alexandra Austin tied for 16th at 160 (82-78) to lead the Highlanders. Kirsty Condon tied for 18th at 161 (81-80), while Hayley Hammond finished 20th at 162 (80-82).
 
Making the biggest move of the day, Paige Reese shaved seven shots off her opening round to tie for 24th at 165 (86-79). Olivia Jay rounded out the Radford scoring by tying for 26th at 166 (82-84).
 
High Point led wire-to-wire in posting a 16-shot victory over Gardner-Webb. The Panthers fired a 602 (299-303), while the Runnin' Bulldogs concluded at 618 (309-309). Winthrop was third at 619 (310-309), followed by the Highlanders (644), Presbyterian College (653) and The Citadel (669).
 
The individual race was just as lopsided as High Point's Sarah Bae notched an eight-shot triumph behind her 4-under-par 140 (68-72). PC's Abby Driscoll was the runner-up at 4-over-par 148 (72-76).
 
Up next for Radford is a Big South tri-match against High Point and Gardner-Webb on Oct. 5 at The Patriot Golf Club in Ninety Six, S.C. The layout serves as the host site for April's 2014 Big South Women's Golf Championship.
