RESULTS

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall dealt Radford a 7-0 loss at the Huntington Tennis Club Sunday afternoon in nonconference women's tennis action.

Wins at the first and third flights clinched the doubles point for the Thundering Herd (1-0). Karli Timko and Anna Pomyatinskaya combined for a 6-2 triumph over Gisela Garcia and Taylor Fay at No. 3. Later on, Dana Oppinger and Derya Turhan delivered a 6-2 win over Taylor Newman and Gemma Valls to provide Marshall with a 1-0 edge entering singles competition.

Perhaps showing signs of fatigue from playing their third match in as many days, the Highlanders (1-2) lost in straight sets in five of their six singles matches. Grace Sarver was the only player to go three sets. After prevailing 7-6 in the opening set, Sarver was unable to hold on to her lead, falling 6-3 in the second stanza and 10-6 in the one-game tiebreaker for the third set.

Radford will have nearly one month to prepare for its next dual, which is slated for Feb. 16 in Annapolis, Md. against Navy. First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m.
