THIAGARAJ’S EVEN-PAR 72 HIGHLIGHTS RADFORD’S FINAL ROUND AT ECU

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Freshman Khushboo Thiagaraj fired a season-best even-par 72 to guide the Radford women's golf team in Tuesday's final round of the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate. East Carolina hosted the two-day tournament at the par 72, 6,088-yard Greenville Country Club.

Thiagaraj had the flat stick rolling in her final 18 holes, recording four birdies en route to tying for 56^th at 234 (81-81-72). One stroke behind and the only Highlander to keep all three rounds in the 70s was classmate Larissa Carter. The Owasco, N.Y. native finished at 235 (77-79-79) to tie for 59^th.

Tying for 71^st at 239 (78-79-82) was senior Alexandra Austin. Meagan Board and Olivia Jay both shot their best round of the tournament on the final day, signing for an 80 and an 81, respectively. Board tied for 84^th at 247 (84-83-80), while Jay was 94^th at 258 (89-88-81).

GRU Augusta, ranked 33^rd in the nation, ran away with the team title on the strength of its 876 (297-291-288). Four Jaguars claimed top-10 showings, led by individual runner-up Jessica Haigwood.

Edging Haigwood by two shots was Winthrop's Jennifer Dilger, who returned a 2-under-par 214 (69-74-71) to the clubhouse to claim medalist honors.

Despite Radford saving its best round (312) of the tournament for the final day, the Highlanders were unable to move up the team leaderboard. RU finished 18^th with an aggregate score of 954 (320-322-312).

The Highlanders conclude the fall portion of their schedule next Monday and Tuesday at the Fighting Camel Classic hosted by Campbell. The 54-hole tournament will be played at Keith Hills Country Club in Buies Creek, N.C.
