WOMEN'S SOCCER WRAPS UP HOMESTAND WITH IN-STATE RIVAL LONGWOOD

Radford closes out its three-game homestand on Saturday, Oct. 4 hosting in-state rival Longwood in a key Big South contest. The Highlanders (5-4-2, 2-0-1 Big South) and Lancers (6-4-1, 1-1-0) will kick off from Cupp Stadium at 2:00 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT: In its third straight double OT affair, Radford rallied from a 2-0 deficit and earned a 2-2 draw (box score) against Campbell on Wednesday… Trailing by two goals at halftime, Shannon Nasca and Caitlin Annear scored four minutes apart early in the second half to even the game… Keeper Sydney Chervenic started the second half, made three saves and also intercepted a service with three on-rushing Camels in the box to keep Campbell off the board over the final 65 minutes to help preserve the tie... Nasca's and Annear's goals were the firsts of their careers… Mitchell set up Annear's equalizer for her third assist in the last two games… Kara Wade dished out her first assist of the season on Nasca's far post header.
 
A LOOK AT YOUR HIGHLANDERS: Wednesday's tie snapped RU's four-game winning streak… The Highlanders are 4-0-1 over their last five games and 5-1-1 in their last seven… Dating back to the Appalachian State game, eight different Highlanders have scored their last eight goals… Shannon Nasca and Caitlin Annear became the 11th and 12th person to score for RU this season… They also are the sixth a seventh Highlander to net their first collegiate goals… The last time RU played three straight double overtime games was in 2012 when they tied Winthrop, Longwood and Liberty… Kara Wade paces RU with five goals and 11 points… Asyia Mitchell has dished out a team-best three assists.
 
BIG SOUTH: Radford sits in first place with seven points, one point clear of Coastal Carolina and three of four other squads… Improved to 19-1-5 in Big South regular season games since 2012 and 33-5-6 since 2010… RU had its eight-game winning streak against league foes at home snapped on Wednesday… However, RU is still undefeated in its last 15 (12-0-3) against league opponents (includes two tournament games) at Cupp… PC was the 26th shutout in league regular season play since 2010… The win at PC also improved the Highlanders' regular season league road record to 13-2-2 since 2011… Since 2009, RU is 22-2-3 in regular season home games
 
THE LANCERS: Longwood is coming off a 6-1 non-conference win over Francis Marion on Tuesday and have won two straight, defeating Winthrop, 2-0 on Sept. 27… Amanda Spencer and Teresa Fruchterman have scored a team-best four goals apiece… In addition, Olivia Colella has registered three goals and a team-best three assists… Hailey Machen has played the majority of the minutes (836:08) in net, posting a 1.18 GAA with 34 saves and a .756 save percentage.

THE SERIES: The series is deadlocked at 5-5-1… Radford has won two straight, 1-0 last year in Farmville (box score), and is undefeated against Longwood over the last four meetings (3-0-1)… Has not surrendered a goal during the four-game stretch... The Highlanders are 2-2-1 at Cupp with the last result being a scoreless draw on Oct. 18, 2012 (box score).
