SOFTBALL TO BE FEATURED ON ESPN3

RADFORD, Va. – Radford Softball will have two regular season games broadcasted on ESPN3, including a home contest at the newly renovated RU Softball Field on April 26 against Gardner-Webb at 1:00 p.m. As part of the Big South Conference's spring ESPN package, the Highlanders' first appearance on ESPN3 will be on March 29 at Winthrop. This is the second consecutive season and fourth time overall Radford will showcase a softball game at home on ESPN's family of networks.

This year's broadcast will allow Radford to show off its renovated softball facility to a national audience. RU Softball Field will feature new dugouts, stadium seating, press box, state of the art sound system, upgrades to the bullpens and batting cages, along with several cosmetic upgrades.

"We are excited for the opportunity to compete on ESPN, " commented head coach Maggie Johnson White. "It is an honor to play our sport with pride and passion in front of a national audience, and our athletes are appreciative to have a newly renovated stadium in which to compete."

Most recently, Radford hosted Charleston Southern last season on March 30, defeating the Buccaneers, 7-1, on ESPN3.

The 24/7 live multi-screen network will also carry Big South regular season softball on March 22, April 5 and April 12, along with up to four games on Day Three of the Big South Softball Championship presented by Musco Sports Lighting. The softball season caps off with the Big South Championship game aired live on ESPNU from CCU Softball Field on May 11 at 12:00 p.m.

From 2007-10, Radford had the honor of representing the Big South Conference on ESPNU taking part in the first four nationally televised regular season games for the conference. In 2007, Radford defeated Winthrop, 9-2 in the first ever league game on ESPNU. Two years later the Highlanders topped the Eagles again, 9-4, in the first nationally televised event from RU Softball Field. In six appearances on the ESPNU or ESPN3, Radford is 5-1.

All of the Big South's ESPN broadcasts can also be viewed on a new Big South-branded channel on WatchESPN via Apple TV and Roku.
