AIR FORCE HALTS HIGHLANDERS’ WIN STREAK

RADFORD, Va. – Air Force snapped Radford's three-match win streak by edging the Highlanders, 4-2, Friday morning in nonconference women's tennis action at Star Island Resort in Orlando, Fla.

The Falcons (10-4) cruised to the doubles point via victories at No. 1 and No. 3. Meg Napolitano and Grace Sarver led their match, 6-5, over Marcelli Magday and Anastasia Hueffner on court two when the point was decided.

Jocelle Rudico increased Air Force's lead to 2-0 when she defeated Sara Andrade (6-3, 6-1) at the sixth spot. Following another Falcon win at No. 5 singles, Sarver put the Highlanders (4-7) on the board with her three-set (2-6, 7-5, 6-1) triumph over Chloe Forlini on court four.

Gemma Valls brought RU within a point (3-2) when she dispatched Magday at the second position (7-5, 6-4). The remaining two bouts went three sets. Despite winning the first set (6-4), Napolitano was unable to hold off Tracy Landram. Her competitor claimed the final two frames (6-3, 7-5) to clinch the dual for Air Force.

Up next for the Highlanders is Tuesday's home opener against Campbell. First serve for the Big South match is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at the Radford University Tennis Complex.
