CAMPBELL DEFEATS WOMEN’S TENNIS, 6-1

RADFORD, Va. – Despite claiming the doubles point, Radford failed to record a win in singles competition as Campbell prevailed, 6-1, in Big South women's tennis action Thursday afternoon at the Radford University Tennis Complex.

For the fifth time this season, the Highlanders (4-8, 0-2 Big South) opened with a 1-0 favor in the match following doubles play. After dropping the decision at the third flight, RU rebounded with wins on courts one and two.

Taylor Newman and Gemma Valls moved to 4-4 on the season by downing Natasha Afridi and Tamara Stanic, 8-5, at the top spot. Also improving to 4-4 was Meg Napolitano and Grace Sarver, who clinched the doubles point with their 8-6 triumph over Karolina Chernaya and Claudia Oriz at No. 2.

However, the Camels (9-5, 3-1 Big South) responded by sweeping all six singles matches to post the come-from-behind victory.

Radford returns to the court Sunday afternoon when it hosts Winthrop at 2:30 p.m. at the Radford University Tennis Complex.
