WOMEN’S GOLF MOVES UP LEADERBOARD ON FINAL DAY AT HILTON HEAD

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. –
The Radford women's golf team trimmed seven shots off its first-round ledger to move up to a tie for seventh place following Monday's final round of the Low Country Intercollegiate hosted by Wofford at the par 72, 5,815-yard Moss Creek Golf Club.
 
Samford led wire-to-wire to post a three-shot victory over SoCon rival Western Carolina. Three Bulldogs placed inside the Top 5 en route to their 628 (313-315) team tally. Led by individual medalist Kristin Swindell, the Catamounts carded a 631 (314-317). Swindell posted a 151 (75-76) to beat teammate Kim Mitchell's 153 (77-76).
 
Radford tied USC Upstate at 675. After opening with a 341 in Sunday's first round, the Highlanders improved to 334 for their final 18 holes.
 
Hayley Hammond paced the crew with her 163 (83-80), which tied for 14th. Kirsty Condon, who registered Radford's best scorecard in the first round, finished at 167 (80-87) to tie for 26th.
 
Taking 43rd place at 176 (89-87) was Olivia Jay, while Paige Reese tied for 50th at 184 (89-95). Alexandra Austin tied Hammond for the best round by a Highlander on the final day, returning an 80 to the clubhouse.
 
Radford travels to Wallace, N.C. for its final tuneup prior to the conference championship. The Highlanders tee it up April 5-6 at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational, which will be contested at River Landing Country Club.
