NINETY SIX, S.C. –
The Radford women's golf team carded the third-best round of the day as the Highlanders took seventh following Tuesday's final round of the 2014 Big South Women's Golf Championship at the par 72, 6,083-yard The Patriot Golf Club.

"I am proud of the way we bounced back from yesterday," Jeff Beeler said. "For our three seniors to end their careers like they did today was a special moment for me as a coach. This year's group helped our program continue to move forward, and I could not have asked for a better team to be a part of."

Sparked by a strong start, the Highlanders were able to handle the adverse weather conditions down the stretch to card a 310. Radford finished at 944 (311-323-310), which is the fourth-best score at the conference championship in program history. Play was halted for 55 minutes in the early afternoon due to heavy rain drenching the Davis Love III-designed layout.

Leading the way for RU was Hayley Hammond, who ended her career with a Top-10 finish. Behind rounds of 76, 76 and 74, Hammond surged up the leaderboard into a tie for seventh, which is the highest finish by a Highlander at the conference championship since 2004.

Highlighting the redshirt senior's final round were two birdies in a three-hole stretch. Hammond rolled in a 15-foot uphill birdie putt at the par-4 second hole, and then dropped in a five-foot right-to-left slider on the par-3 fourth hole to get back to level-par through 13 holes.

Finishing in a tie for 26th was Alexandra Austin, who logged a 237 (79-81-77). The junior charted a team-best three birdies Tuesday. One of her birdies came at the par-5 18th, which she birdied all three days.

Seniors Paige Reese and Kirsty Condon saved their best performances for the last round. Reese tied for 36th at 245 (81-84-80), while Condon tied for 38th at 247 (86-82-79). Olivia Jay placed 40th at 248 (75-84-89).

Campbell claimed the team title in record-breaking fashion. The Camels' 864 (278-289-297) eclipsed the previous mark of 880 set last year by Coastal Carolina. Campbell becomes the first team in Big South women's golf championship history to have three players finish under-par.

Capturing medalist honors was Louise Latorre, who ended the tournament with a championship-record 3-under-par 213 (68-73-72). Finishing second and third were Tahnia Ravnjak (2-under-par 214) and Kaylin Yost (1-under-par 215), respectively. As a team, the Camels finished 30 shots ahead of runner-up Coastal Carolina – the fourth-largest margin of victory in league history.
