HIGHLANDERS OPEN IN SIXTH AT UNCW SEAHAWK INVITATIONAL



ROUNDS 1-2

WALLACE, N.C. –
The Radford women's golf team stands in sixth place following Saturday's 36 holes of the UNCW Seahawk Invitational. The 54-hole tournament is being contested at the par 72, 6,106-yard River Landing Golf Club.

After firing a 312 in the morning round, the Highlanders trimmed two shots off that figure in the afternoon session to card a 310. Elon leads the nine-team field at 603 (297-306). Delaware is second at 607 (301-306), followed by Old Dominion and UNC Wilmington (616). Eastern Michigan commands fifth at 619, three swings clear of RU. Ball State (628), Longwood (634) and Richmond (672) round out the tournament field.
 
Thanks to six birdies on the day, Alexandra Austin is tied for fourth at 149 (71-78). Six strokes behind her is Hayley Hammond, who signed for a 155 (79-76) and is tied for 17th. Behind the Highlanders' best second round, Kirsty Condon returned a 157 (82-75) to the clubhouse and is tied for 22nd. Olivia Jay (162) and Paige Reese (170) are 31st and tied for 44th, respectively.
 
Lori Beth Adams of UNCW is atop the individual standings at 1-over-par 145 (74-71). She carries a slim one-shot favor over Elon's Sunna Vidisdottir and Kelsey Badmaev.
 
Sunday's final round gets underway with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start. Radford will play with the host Seahawks and Eastern Michigan.
