PAIR OF HIGHLANDERS END IN TOP 20 AT UNCW SEAHAWK INVITATIONAL

WALLACE, N.C. –
Led by two of its golfers in the Top 20, the Radford women's golf team finished seventh following Sunday's final round at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational. The 54-hole tournament was contested at the par 72, 6,106-yard River Landing Golf Club.

Elon was atop the team standings from start to finish as the Phoenix shot a 907 (297-306-304) to post an eight-shot victory over host UNC Wilmington. By producing the final round's lowest team total, the Seahawks climbed to second with their 915 (313-303-299). Delaware was three strokes behind at 918, followed by Old Dominion (920), Eastern Michigan (925) and Ball State (936).
 
Following rounds of 312 and 310, the Highlanders logged a 323 to tally a 945. Big South rival Longwood ended in eighth at 956, while Richmond rounded out the nine-team field with its 1005.
 
At the top of the individual leaderboard for Radford was Hayley Hammond, who notched her sixth Top 20 of the season with a 231 (79-76-76) to tie for 13th. Only one stroke behind, Alexandra Austin finished at 232 (71-78-83) to tie for 16th. The junior's placement was her eighth Top 20 of the season.
 
Kirsty Condon ranked 26th in the field with her 237 (82-75-80), while Olivia Jay concluded in 38th with her 246 (80-82-84). Paige Reese completed the lineup for RU by finishing 45th at 259 (89-81-89).
 
Behind a steady 54 holes, Lori Beth Adams signed for a 1-over-par 217 (74-71-72) to capture medalist honors. Elon's Kelsey Badmaev finished four shots back at 221 (73-73-75).
 
Radford ventures to Ninety Six, S.C. for the 2014 Big South Women's Golf Championship next weekend. The Highlanders' practice round is scheduled for Saturday, with three rounds of competition to follow (Sunday-Tuesday).
