HIGHLANDERS IMPROVE ON SECOND DAY OF WILLIAM & MARY INVITATIONAL

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. –
Led by four scores in the 70s for the first time this season, the Radford women's golf team posted a 307 in Monday's second round of the William & Mary Invitational hosted by the Tribe at the par 72, 5,948-yard Kingsmill Resort Plantation Course.
 
The Highlanders remain in 11th place, but are only 12 shots out of fourth. Elon increased its lead in the team race on the strength of a 3-under 285 in the second round. The Phoenix's 585 is nine shots clear of Morehead State (604) with 18 holes to play.
 

First-round leader Alexandra Austin continued her chase for medalist honors. She returned a 2-over 74 to the clubhouse and is tied for fourth at 146. Her 36-hole total is six shots behind Elon's Heather Munzo (140). Austin is tied for second in par-4 scoring at even-par and tied for sixth in par-5 scoring at 1-under-par. The senior has tallied eight birdies through 36 holes, which is tied for fourth-best in the field.
 
Khushboo Thiagaraj is tied for 27th at 155 (79-76), while Larissa Carter is tied for 49th at 160 (82-78). Making the biggest move of the day was Meagan Board, who shaved seven shots off her first-round score to post a 79. Her 36-hole 165 is tied for 57th. Olivia Jay rounds out the lineup in a tie for 64th at 172 (87-85).
 

Tuesday's final round commences with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
