WOMEN’S TENNIS OPENS SPRING BREAK WITH 6-1 TRIUMPH OVER BRYANT

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Radford women's tennis team opened its spring break trip to the Sunshine State with a 6-1 victory over Bryant (3-5), Tuesday.

Natalie Sayer and Taylor Fay got the Highlanders (1-7) going with a resounding 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles over Linnea Sjoberg and Nina Luiggi. Taylor Newman and Gemma Valls clinched the doubles point for RU with their 8-7 (7-3) victory over Ryan Brown and Marion Bouillin at the top flight.

Newman continued her solid play in singles, finishing off Bouillin in straight sets (6-4, 6-4) to extend Radford's lead to 2-0. Fay and Grace Sarver clinched the decision with their singles victories at the fourth and fifth flights, respectively.

After a day off, the Highlanders return to action Thursday at 4:30 p.m. against Wayne State, which is 18-0 on the season. The match is to be played at Star Island Resort in Orlando, Fla.
