RADFORD, Va. ---- Radford returns home to host Big South Conference foe Charleston Southern from March 28-29. First pitch on Saturday is slated for 1 p.m. The series wraps up on Sunday with a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m.

"We need to come out ready to fight and ready to compete at our best throughout the weekend," said head coach Maggie White. "Charleston Southern is having a very good season and this will be tough competition. We will compete on every pitch and work to be consistent on every side of the ball."

Radford has lost each of its past two games by one run. At Presbyterian on March 21, the Highlanders scored two runs in the top of the seventh to take a 4-2 advantage. The Blue Hose responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame and scored two more in the 10th inning for the win. Last time out at Elon on March 24, Radford held a three run advantage after three innings, but four unanswered by the Phoenix ended the game 5-4 in the seventh.

Becky Mantel has been on a tear from the plate, batting .615 in conference play and .571 over the past five games. At Presbyterian on March 21, Mantel went 5-7 with a double. At Elon on March 24, she was hit by pitch twice and laced a ball into left field.

Casey Burns notched her second home run of season at Elon, hitting a 2-1 pitch to left field. Burns leads the Highlanders with nine extra base hits, seven of which are for doubles. Her long ball against the Phoenix led off the third inning, bringing her average reached as the leadoff hitter to a team-best .667.

Originally scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday, Radford and Charleston Southern will now play one game on Saturday and a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 11 a.m.
