WOMEN’S TENNIS POSTS 4-3 SENIOR DAY VICTORY OVER GARDNER-WEBB

BIG SOUTH BRACKET

RADFORD, Va. – Radford claimed the doubles point and the first three singles decisions before concluding with a 4-3 Big South women's tennis triumph over Gardner-Webb, Saturday, at the Radford University Tennis Complex.

The Highlanders (6-11, 3-6 Big South) got wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to secure the early 1-0 advantage. Natalie Sayer and Gemma Valls defeated Rokia Sacko and Teodora Stanciu, 8-4, at the top flight. Grace Sarver and Meg Napolitano sealed the doubles point with their 8-5 win over Catherine White and Sarah Rieckmann on court three.

Radford continued its winning ways in singles by prevailing at the first, second and sixth slots to clinch the dual. Taylor Newman retired Yasmin Doost in straight sets (6-0, 6-1) at No. 1 singles.

Sayer extended the Highlanders' lead to 3-0 when she topped Sacko (6-4, 6-4) at the second flight. Sarver captured the deciding point at No. 6 singles, taking down Mary Walker Mixon (6-1, 7-6 (7-1)).

With the win, Radford clinched the No. 7 seed for next week's Big South Women's Tennis Championship. The Highlanders will face No. 10 seed Longwood, Wednesday, April 15 at 12 p.m. in Asheville, N.C.
