NEWMAN RECOGNIZED AS BIG SOUTH WOMEN’S TENNIS CO-SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Radford senior Taylor Newman has been named the Big South Women's Tennis Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year. League officials released the full list of conference postseason award winners Tuesday evening.

"Taylor is extremely deserving of this award," head coach Martin Sayer said. "Narrowly missing out on this honor last year, she kept putting the hard work in academically, as well as representing the top of the lineup for our program in competition. This is one of many awards she will garner in her future."

A 3.99 double major in journalism and Spanish, Newman became the Highlanders' fourth conference scholar-athlete of the year in program history. The Bethesda, Md., native joined Heskia Dil (1997) and Cassandra Price (2006 and 2007) as Radford's only recipients of the Big South's highest academic honor in women's tennis.

Newman shared the honor with Liberty's Brittany Yang, who has earned a 4.0 GPA as a music major. Below is the full list of postseason award winners for Big South women's tennis.
