RADFORD, Va. ---- Radford wraps up its seven-game home stand with a doubleheader against the Atlantic Coast Conference's N.C. State on Tuesday, April 21, at 4 p.m. The Highlanders will quickly turnaround to make the trip to Blacksburg to battle with New River Valley rival Virginia Tech on Wednesday, April 22, at 7 p.m.
 
Becky Mantel went 3-5 in the doubleheader against Appalachian State on April 16, highlighted by her fifth double of the season. Mantel finished the day against Winthrop on April 18 with three hits. She hit the sixth double of her season in game two, brining her season total of extra base hits to 11. Mantel scored a team-high four runs in the doubleheader.
 
In her lone official at bat in the two-game series against the Mountaineers, Whitney Davis cranked her seventh home run of the year. Davis led Radford at the dish against Winthrop, batting .429 with six RBI on the day. She notched three RBI in each outing, highlighted by her team-best eighth home run of the season to score two runs in game one.

Casey Burns hit her 11th double of the year to continue to pace the Highlanders in the category. Burns had two hits and an RBI against Winthrop on April 18.
 
Kelsey Weddle was given the ball to start in game one against Winthrop, throwing her fifth complete game of the season. Weddle gave up a career-low one hit in the seven-inning effort, striking out a career-best five batters. The lone run that came across for the Eagles was unearned.
 
Tiffany Brown was given the ninth start of her freshman campaign, pitching 6.2 innings in part two of the doubleheader against Winthrop. Five runs came across with Brown in the circle, but none were earned with the Highlanders committing five errors in the contest.

10274            Radford vs. N.C. State and Virginia Tech: The Series                                     
Radford is 2-5 all-time against N.C. State. The Red and White took the meeting in 2004, 1-0. The Wolfpack swept the Highlanders last season, 7-0, 4-0, in North Carolina. This will be N.C. State's first trip to Radford since 2008, when the two programs split the doubleheader.
 
The Highlanders trail in the New River Valley Rivalry with Virginia Tech, 10-35, dating back to 1996. Radford won the first game ever played between the two programs, 4-1. In the last meeting, Virginia Tech downed the Red and White, 11-1, in Radford on March 18. Radford's last victory over the Hokies came back in 2010 at the Radford Softball Stadium. The Highlanders scored nine runs, eight coming in the fifth and sixth innings.
