ACIERTO ADVANCES ON DAY ONE OF HOKIE FALL INVITE



BLACKSBURG, Va. – On the first day of the Hokie Fall Invite, Jeanine Acierto advanced to the winners bracket in singles play, while the tandem of Drousile Dzeubou and Tyler Blalock advanced to the Maroon Doubles Flight semifinals, Friday afternoon inside the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
 
Acierto defeated Janelle Ghanem of Miami in a hard-fought 6-7(8), 6-1, 6-1 match in the opening round of the UT Prosim Flight. She will now face Shene Disbergen on Saturday at noon.
 
Dzeubou and Blalock defeated Hannah Klatsky and Liyin Xu of Penn State in the Maroon Doubles Flight 8-1, continuing the success in the duo battled Sarah Baron and Shene Disbergen of Virginia Tech to 8-6 victory. On Saturday, Dzeubou and Blalock will meet Noumea Witmus and Paola Exposito Diaz-Delgado of VCU.
 
Rounding out singles play, Natalie Sayer fell to Elizabeth Norman of James Madison 6-3, 4-6, 6-0 and will face Virginia Tech's Nina Sorkin on Saturday in a 12 p.m., Brotherhood Flight match.
 
Lotti Meszaros fell to Old Dominion's Holly Hutchinson 6-3, 6-2 and will face Milana Lysova of Miami in the Honor Flight on Saturday. Zoe Fraser dropped a qualifying match in Loyalty Flight to Adriana Rajkovic of Old Dominion 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 and a consolation match to Miami's Mackenzie Myers 7-6(3), 6-3.
 
Dzeubou dropped a match to James Maidson's Emma Petersen 6-3, 6-3. Dzeubou will face George Washington's Julia Herlogsson in the Sacrifice Flight loser's bracket semifinal on Saturday. Blalock fell to Lena Bubinski of Miami 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the Service Flight opening round. Blalock will now face Sofia Sualche of VCU on Saturday at 10 a.m.
 
In the opening round of the Doubles Flight, Sayer and Meszaros fell to Cassidy Hicks and Jenna Vroman of Wofford in a tough 8-7(8) battle. Receiving a bye in the semifinals, the duo will take on the tandem of Roka and Owens of James Madison in the semifinals at 9 a.m.
 
Acierto and Fraser teamed up in the Maroon Doubles Flight, falling to James Madison's Michaela Klushka and Perterson 8-4. After a quarterfinal bye, the tandem faces Nancy Ghanem and Fallon Delp of Virginia Tech on Saturday at 9 a.m.
 
With several players still remaining, Radford returns to action at 9 a.m., on Saturday in day two of the Hokie Fall Invite.
